Early Motoring scene in Napier, NZ. Dog Seated in a Cadillac Model A, c.1904

A rare early motoring photograph showing a Cadillac Model A, Cadillac’s first production car, photographed in Napier, Hawke’s Bay around 1904. The single-cylinder motor car is parked outside a timber residence, with a dog seated proudly in the driver’s seat. Believed to be one of the earliest motor vehicles in Napier, this image documents the very beginning of private car ownership in the region.
