Automobile Race held on Boxing Day 1905 Christchurch, New Zealand
The Automobile Association of New Zealand hosted "The Great Automobile Gymkhana" on 26th December 1905 at the Metropolitan Trotting Grounds (now known as Addington Raceway), Christchurch, New Zealand. Numerous races took place featuring 30 automobiles. This is believed to be the first stand alone automobile race in New Zealand. The main 5 mile race was won by Mr A Duncan driving Dr Thacker's Beeston–Humber.
